Come down and see me in Canmore on June 1st 2013. I’ll be selling some of my lovely fabric sculptures along with 30 other talented vendors. There is no charge for admission so there is no reason not to come down, have a look around.

Soooo …. my images weren’t backed up either. I don’t know why I didn’t learn the backing up lesson when my computer was stolen, but it seems I didn’t. So in the deep dark crevices of my external hard drive, I’ve managed to find some of the images of my paintings and sculptures, but not all. Of course I don’t still have all of that art to retake the pictures from, some have been sold, yeah, and some have mysteriously disappeared, ?. But alas I have to move onwards and just show what I have, and kick it into high gear making some new works. My boy kept trying to tell me, look on the positive side, opportunity is the same word as crisis in Chinese, blah, blah, blah … But I finally stopped crying and screaming at my host (it’s not entirely their fault, but god, does their customer service suck, I don’t recommend Host Papa!) and realized that I can’t dwell, and now can create something better.
It is going to take a little time though, and now that is not really what I’m flush with. I’m leaving to take care of my parents Inn, The Prairie Creek Inn, for a week in a week and than I fly off to Mexico for two very good friends wedding, and then its a week before Christmas. Somehow I will find the time in amongst all of that, but I more than likely wont have a shinny new site up until after the new year. So check back with me in January for something good.
So as many people have probably heard, Hostpapa had some sort security breach yesterday and as a result many websites hosted by them got hacked. Including yours truly! I didn’t think much of it, I backed up like a good little girl. But I have just now come to a very sad conclusion, the backups I did did not backup my theme. The custom theme that I built for myself was deleted by myself when I was wiping wordpress, post hack, just thinking I could import my website again. My blog info is still safe and all my images, but the site sure doesn’t look as pretty anymore. And I’m sure your asking, why don’t you have the original files on your computer for the custom theme. Ah well, a little laptop theif took those and that computer couple of months ago. I guess I know what I’m doing this weekend.
A new sculpture I just finished. I was originally thinking a mobile, but i like the plinth, it feels more solid but still has some nice movement. Click here to see the full sculpture or click on the article to see close ups of the other two fish.
So there was a break in at my house a couple of weeks ago. It was fairly minor as those things go but I did find myself computer and camera less for way too long! But all is right with the world again. Thanks to home owners insurance (thankfully the boy is smart enough to have that!) I’ve got lovely replacements of the stolen goods. The only thing I can’t replace is the digital files I not so smartly forgot to back up. I’ve lost most of my pictures of my sculptures and worse still, some of my paintings that I only had digital copies of. But I’ve got to remind myself being an artist is about creating new, not about crying over lost work. Onwards and upwards! So look for some new materials in the next few weeks, I’m excited 🙂
